STALLION - R508B

Stallion R-508B (also known as R-508B) is a specialized ultra-low-temperature HFC blend, commonly used in cascade refrigeration systems, cryogenic freezers, and medical-grade low-temperature equipment. This refrigerant is an azeotropic mixture made up of ~46% HFC-23 (R-23) and ~54% perfluorocarbon R-116, giving it stable thermodynamic behavior and consistent performance at very low temperatures. It has a very low boiling point of around –87.4°C, ensuring effective cooling in extreme cold environments. R-508B is non-ozone depleting (ODP = 0) and classified under ASHRAE as A1, meaning it is non-flammable and of low toxicity. Because of its perfluorinated composition, R-508B has a very high global warming potential (GWP ≈ 13,396), which restricts its use in some jurisdictions. It requires POE (polyolester) lubricant and is frequently chosen as a drop-in replacement for R-503 and R-13 in ultra-low applications.
