FREON - R123

Freon R123 (HCFC-123) is a low-pressure refrigerant widely used in large commercial and industrial cooling systems, especially centrifugal chillers. Known for its excellent thermodynamic efficiency, R123 provides stable, reliable performance in HVAC applications that require high cooling capacity and long operating hours. It is non-flammable, has low toxicity, and operates at lower pressures, which helps extend equipment life and reduces mechanical stress on system components. R123 became a popular replacement for older refrigerants like R11 due to its lower ozone depletion potential (ODP) and improved environmental profile. However, it is still an HCFC with some environmental impact, leading to phasedown policies in many countries.
