Gas - R 514A GAS

R-514A, also marketed as Opteon™ XP30, is a next-generation hydrofluoro-olefin (HFO) refrigerant designed primarily for use in low-pressure centrifugal chillers. As an environmentally friendly alternative to R-123, it offers a dramatically lower global warming potential (GWP) — approximately 2 according to AR5. This non-flammable (ASHRAE B1) azeotropic blend combines Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (HFO-1336mzz(Z)) and trans-1,2-dichloroethylene. R-514A delivers thermodynamic performance closely matching R-123 but with significantly reduced environmental impact.  Its pressure profile is slightly lower than R-123, while its energy efficiency remains comparable.  Widely used in both new and retrofit centrifugal chiller systems, R-514A supports sustainable cooling with high performance and long-term compatibility.
