STALLION - SF6

Stallion SF₆ (sulfur hexafluoride) is a high-purity inert gas primarily used in the electrical power industry. Because of its exceptional dielectric strength and chemical stability, it serves as a superior insulating and arc-quenching medium in high-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and gas-insulated substations. SF₆ is non-flammable and non-toxic under normal conditions, making it safe when handled correctly. Its molecular structure gives it outstanding electrical insulation capabilities, allowing compact and reliable equipment design. However, SF₆ is an extremely potent greenhouse gas with a very high global warming potential (GWP) — around 23,500 times that of CO₂. When exposed to electrical discharges or high temperatures, it can decompose into toxic byproducts, necessitating careful monitoring, recovery, and handling. Proper recycling and leak management are essential to minimize its environmental impact.
